It’s Never Too Late to…Take Back the Wheel
How often do we actually stop and check where we’re heading?
Not just where the calendar says we’re going, or what’s next on the to-do list, but really check in. With ourselves. With our direction. With the version of life we said we wanted.
Because it’s easy to get swept along.
You say yes to something that sounds exciting. Then another. And another. Before you know it, your diary is full, your energy is gone, and you're so caught up in doing that you forget to pause and ask, is this still the path I want to be on?
Even when we’ve worked hard to create a life or business we love, we can still drift.
It happens quietly. Gradually. And sometimes, you only notice it when things start to feel a bit off.
Recently, I came across a sentence in a book that stopped me in my tracks:
"You are 100% responsible for your life."
Obvious? Maybe. But we often overlook the obvious.
It reminded me that while I can’t control everything that happens around me, delays, setbacks, other people’s decisions, I am responsible for how I respond. For what I prioritise. For how I spend my time and energy. For whether I make space to course correct when I’ve wandered off track.
And that’s not about blame. It’s about power.
It means if something doesn’t feel right, I get to change it.
If I’ve been saying yes to too much, I get to reset my boundaries.
If I’ve lost sight of where I’m heading, I can stop and reassess.
And if I’ve let momentum or external noise take over, I can choose to get back in the driver’s seat.
That sentence, “you are 100% responsible for your life” , led me straight back to a tool I created for myself and my clients: The Annual Review Toolkit.
It’s designed for exactly these moments. When you feel like you’ve been on autopilot, or just need to recalibrate. When your goals feel out of reach or your vision’s gone a bit foggy. When you need to lift your head up from the day-to-day and reconnect with the bigger picture.
Working through it always grounds me. It brings me back to what matters. It reminds me of how far I’ve come, where I’m going, and what needs to shift to get there.
And every time I do it, I realise just how many people are in the same place.
Because it’s so easy to drift.
So easy to stay busy.
So easy to forget that we’re allowed to change direction — and more than that, we’re responsible for doing so when things stop feeling right.
That’s where my work comes in.
I often work with midlife women who’ve spent so long supporting everyone else that they’ve lost sight of their own goals. Or who’ve built something that looks good on the outside, but doesn’t feel aligned anymore. Or who are simply craving more clarity and direction, but don’t know where to begin.
And the first step? It’s almost always about taking back the wheel.
Owning your choices.
Reconnecting with your vision.
And deciding, with intention, what comes next.
If that resonates, and you’re ready to check in, reflect, and refocus, I’d love to support you.
Whether you’re craving clarity, contemplating a pivot, or simply ready to take back the wheel in your life, career or business, this is the work I love to do.
If you’d like to explore what working together could look like, you can find out more about my coaching offers on my website or get in touch to start a conversation.
Because it’s never too late to stop.
To check the map.
To turn around.
To pivot.
To realign.
To get back on course.
To take back the wheel.
You’re in the driving seat of your own life. And you always have been!
